Temple Israel’s Adult Education Committee presents: Abraham Lincoln and the Jews, Part 3

Mr. Toborowsky is an experienced history teacher whose passion is researching and lecturing on the impact of Jews on American History. He has taught a four-part course on the subject at Temple Israel, CRJ and at his home synagogue in Louisville, KY and has recently lectured on “Jews in American History” at Rollins College.

Mr. Toborowsky returns to Temple Israel to present the third lecture in his new series; Abraham Lincoln and the Jews. He will discuss the relationships among Abraham Lincoln and his Jewish friends and acquaintances and how these connections may have influenced the direction of American history.

Mr. Toborowsky will address such questions as:

1. What part did his Jewish friend have on his becoming president?
2. What influence did the Jewish Bible have on Lincoln’s departing speech
3. Who was the Jewish telegraph operator that was the first to tell the world of the Emancipation Proclamation?
4. How did an 11 year old girl influence Lincoln to grow a beard?
5. How did Lincoln react to America’s sponsored act of anti semitism?
6. Things your American History teacher did not tell you.
